Before Twitter, before email, an old teacher friend of mine used to stuff photocopied articles he liked into mailboxes of other teachers he thought would appreciate the stuff. This daily act of sharing he called his paper route.

Chicago's new layoff rules
July 14 Education Week reports that Chicago board of educaiton approved a policy last month that would dismiss tenured teachers rated "ineffective" before "dipping into the ranks of higher-rater novices." CTU head calls the new policy "illegal."
